New York Times article about the C.S. Lewis Bible

Here is an interesting post in the New York Times published on March 4th and its worth reading for several reasons. First, for those of us who are closely following the developments connected to establishing the C.S. Lewis College in Northfield Massachusetts in 2012 there are several mentions about that in this piece and it underscores the sense of how many people are watching and waiting for the college to open. Second is a concise and interesting recounting of C.S. Lewis’ standings in the current publishing trends. Third, the perspective expressed about the newly published C.S. Lewis Bible is respectfully offered but it is hard to miss the irony and restraint reflected in the closing line about how Lewis would never have wanted to be regarded as a personality cult figure or a “guru” and the publishers chose to make his name larger than the word Bible.

Here is a thoughtful response by Bo Sanders to the New York Times piece:

For another take on the C.S. Lewis Bible here is a Podcast by put out by Books and Culture editor John Wilson and Stan Guthrie. I listened to this the first day it came out.

The C.S. Lewis Bible continues to sell briskly even in the midst of mixed opinions of its appropriateness and demonstrates yet again how powerfully his name still carries.
