Confidence in the storm

Be merciful and gracious to me, O God, be merciful and gracious to me;

for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You;

yes, in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge and be confident

until calamities and destructive storms are passed.” Psalm 57:1

——-

There is such soothing peace in this verse.

A clear cry to God for help, for protection and for His presence, the  covering of His wings.

A clear sense of confidence and trust in God’s unfailing character.

The Psalmist here does not pretend to be strong or self-sufficient.

In trust the writer admits the need of his soul and also the unchanged confidence he is secure in.

No strength of men does he seek, only the refuge of God as his shelter.

God does bring us to safe places in Him during the storms,

surrounds us with peace, with calm, with trust and reassurance.

Storms and calamities pass. The overshadowing love of the Lord remains forever.
